Consider a resolution authorizing the City of Baytown to submit a grant application to the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance, for the FY21 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program on behalf of the Police Department.
PREFACE
This proposed resolution authorizes the City of Baytown (the "City") to submit a grant application to the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance, for the FY21 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program - Local Solicitation on behalf of the Police Department. 

The JAG Program provides critical funding necessary to support law enforcement programs such as crime prevention and education. Since 2005, the City of Baytown has enjoyed annual support from this grant program.  If approved, the City will receive $23,683.00 for Police Department overtime for the Firearms Training Simulator ("FATS") Instructors and directed neighborhood patrols in traditionally higher risk crime areas.

The funding amount of $23,683.00 is a formula-based allocation from the U.S. Department of Justice and requires no matching funds from the City.
