Consider an ordinance for the first reading of the proposed annexation of approximately 3.01 acres, located approximately 557.88 feet east of Thompson Road, addressed as 6610 Thompson Road, and situated in the William Hilbus Survey, Abstract No. 336 and being out of and a part of lot 21 of the Elena Fruit and Cotton Farms, Unit “D,” Harris County, Texas.
PREFACE
This proposed ordinance is the first reading regarding the annexation of approximately 3.01 acres, located approximately 557.88 feet east of Thompson Road, addressed as 6610 Thompson Road, and situated in the William Hilbus Survey, Abstract No. 336 and being out of and a part of lot 21 of the Elena Fruit and Cotton Farms, Unit “D,” Harris County, Texas.

On April 9, 2020, City Council approved a resolution granting the petition and directed staff to create a service plan for the area.  City Council held the public hearings for the annexation of the subject area on May 28, 2020, and June 11, 2020. The second and final reading is expected to occur before City Council on June 25, 2020. 

The public hearings were posted on the City of Baytown's notice board on May 13, 2020 and May 27, 2020; published in The Baytown Sun on May 14, 2020 and May 28, 2020; and noticed on the City of Baytown's website since May 14, 2020.

Annexation is being requested to obtain city services and the property is also undergoing the zoning process concurrently to be designated as Light Industrial (LI).
